Trust God More, Fear the Devil Less
I was watching a preaching by Pst. Emmanuel Iren, I believe. I think it was titled “Walk on Water.” If not, then I heard it from Apst. Joshua Selman. One of them, anyway.
The person said that when you tell a Christian “God bless you,” they usually just say amen, but there’s no real belief attached to the response. Faith isn’t connected to it. It even sounds like a greeting, lol.
But if you tell them something negative, like “you will die,” or anything that relates to the devil, they take it very seriously.
We say we believe in God, but we fear more that negative things will happen to us.
When you go to churches and people are praying against the devil, all energy, dedication, and power are at work. We desperately want to “kill” the enemy, but we never truly believe he’s gone. We spend practically our whole lives fighting him.
But when it comes to believing God and staying rooted in Him, we don’t do that deeply.
We worship God just enough to keep us “Christians.” We study because we want something. For most of us, our spirituality is hinged on rewards.
Ask yourself, and be honest: if you had everything on your prayer list, would you still be committed to God? Don’t rush to answer. Think deeply.
Back to the matter. I have come to find out that the closer you get to God, the less you fear the devil. We don’t trust God because we fear the devil so much.
Some people may not realise this, but they take the devil more seriously than God. If not, why would God give you a promise and you don’t believe it?
An old woman in your village can say, “You will die.” You’re still alive, but you start visiting prayer houses. You go for deliverance. You “waka” on top that word to ensure you don’t die.
But when your pastor declares that you are blessed, it’s just another day of words for you. Another practice of religion, not a faith declaration.
This post isn’t to cancel the existence of evil or its power. This post is to admonish you to trust God truly.
If you’re wondering how to do that, it starts with knowing Him.
You can’t trust someone you don’t fully know. Knowledge builds trust. How do you know Him? By pursuing an active relationship with Him.
God is greater than anything we can ever know. Start trusting God, and you will see how quickly your convictions change. If you need help knowing God, start with a sincere prayer. And like anything you don’t understand, research. Yes, God is that important.
Research Him. Put in the effort to know God. Don’t always wait for someone to guide or support you. On some days, wake up. Take your life seriously and push yourself.
